What is the recommended image file format for the best quality prints?

We accept most image file formats like: TIF, JPEG(JPG), GIF, BMP, .Macintosh or PC, but the most common file types are TIF and JPEG. If you are e-mailing us a digital file to print for you and the file is not saved in a TIF or JPEG format, we will have to convert the file before we can send it to our Photo Processor. There is a $1.00 fee per file, which would be added to your total.

Almost all digital cameras on the market today save pictures in the JPEG format. If you are not sure what format your digital camera uses, check your camera manual for details.

JPEG files are typically smaller in size than TIF files, which makes them more ideal for internet use. (They take less time to upload or download). TIF files are usually larger and used for large reprints or professional work.

Will my print colors be different than what I see on screen?

Your print colors will be the same colors that your image file or digital picture has encoded with it. This may look different than what you see on your screen. (All computer monitors view colors different)

For best results with our equipment, save your image using the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 Profile.

Brightness, contrast, touch-ups, color correction, and sizing should all be done before sending any image files to us. (Although, we do offer these services for additional fees)

What JPEG settings should I use when saving my file?

For best results on Digital Prints when using JPEG, be sure to save your file with low compression and high quality.

What settings should I use with my digital camera?

For best results when using your digital camera, be sure to set your camera settings to high (that's the larger number in your resolution setting. 640x480, 1024x768, etc.) and compression to fine or high quality. (your camera usually has 3 settings: basic, normal, fine)

How can I order prints with custom cropping?

Our system automatically enlarges or reduces your image as needed to fit the size print you ordered. This is done uniformly with no image distortion. If you your image proportion is different from the proportion of the print size you selected, then, part of your image will be cropped while keeping your image centered on the print. If you would like no cropping to occur or custom cropping, you MUST indicate that information in the COMMENTS box on the order form. There are additional fee's for this service.
